This is the xisth one of the conference series on "Korea and the World Economy." Previous ones were held in Seoul, Korea (July 2002), Seattle, USA (August 2003), Seoul, Korea (July 2004), Seattle, USA (December 2005), and Seoul, Korea (July 2006)

Economists, policy makers, and practitioners are invited to submit papers on Korea, Asia-Pacific, and the world economy. Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome. Papers in the following areas are especially sought:

  • Korean economy and its foreign trade

  • the new multilateral round of the WTO and related trade issues

  • inter-East-Asia and inter-Korea economic relations and cooperation

  • FTAs and FDI, with special reference to Korea and its neighboring countries

  • trade liberalization and regionalism in East Asia

If interested, please send a draft of a paper or an extended abstract 500+ words long, in English, with your name, affiliation, academic position, mail and e-mail addresses, and phone and fax numbers, by March 31, 2007 to either Charles Harvie, Hyun-Hoon Lee or Kar-yiu Wong (submission via e-mail is preferred):

Papers will be selected through a competitive peer review. Notification of acceptance will be sent out on around April 15, 2006. The final version of all papers for presentation will be due May 31, 2006.

The conference will be held on the campus of Universityof Wollongong.

Publication: All presenters will be invited (but not obligated) to submit their presented papers for publication in the Journal of the Korean Economy, the English journal of the Association of the Korean Economic Studies.
